The Riva Full-size Platform Storage Bed in Chocolate Brown features a laser-cut headboard pattern and smooth panel surfaces. Hand-applied multi-step finish highlights the wood's natural grain with tones from deep chocolate to rich golden brown and burgundy. 2 pre-assembled storage drawers attach to each side rail. Drawers feature integrated pulls, full extension ball bearing drawer glides, solid wood drawer boxes and dovetail joinery. Mattress support system consists of 12 cross slats, 1 perpendicular slat and 4 center support legs; box spring not required. Metal to metal side rail fittings bolt on for easy assembly. Frame-and-panel construction, dowel and tongue-and-groove joinery ensure structural integrity. Side rail clearance: 3-Inch, side rail height: 11-Inch, cross slat height: 13-Inch, drawer face dimensions: 7-Inch high by 22-Inch wide, drawer box dimensions: 6-Inch high by 21-Inch wide by 18-Inch deep, rear drawer position: 20-Inch from back of headboard. Headboard and footboard frames are made of kiln dried solid mahogany; headboard and footboard panels are bass veneer over MDF, an engineered wood which ensures structural integrity; side rails are bass veneer over LVL, an engineered wood that provides strength, a strong engineered wood; drawer faces are bass veneer over MDF; bed slats are solid Southern Yellow Pine. I was a little reluctant to buy a bed on-line but the price was great and I really wanted a cal-king bed with drawers, which has been hard to find. The bed was delivered promptly and was well packed. No damage at all to the bed. It was a little challenging to put together, mostly due to the instructions which didn't have many diagrams. Once put together, the bed is very sturdy. It does not shake or squeak. The wood is a beautiful dark brown with a hint of red and the finish is soft and glossy. The bed has nice clean lines, somewhat of a modern look I would say. There is a little space underneath the bed but you can't really store anything under it as there are a lot of support legs. But that is what makes it so sturdy! I just put a mattress on this, it does not need a box spring. Overall, I am very pleased. I absolutely love this bed!!

I was able to unpack & put this together in 2 hours on my own (my only warning for doing this solo is that if you are trying to put your box springs on the bed after assembly, make sure you have assistance to "lift & place them" or you will probably scrape the finish off the wood if you attempt to "slide them" into position). Anyway - there was only 1 screw fitting that didn't fit and it was a minor spot so I'm not worried about it. The drawers are well made & slide easily in/out of the bed. It is elegant and QUIET.No more squeaking Hollywood bed frame!
